Tim Burton on choosing Johnny Depp to play Edward.
Johnny Depp and Tim Burton first worked together in the hit 1990 drama “Edward Scissorhands.” Tim admitted that he had know idea who he was before. So what had drawn Tim to choose Johnny to play the leading role?
" I didn’t know Johnny Depp at all, and I hadn’t seen any of his work. He seemed to me to be somebody who was very much near the dynamic of the Edward character. I saw this guy who seemed like he had a lot going on, but he looked a certain way, so people perceived him in a certain way. I think he suffered for it. There’s a sadness, I think, that goes with that, because people look at you and they perceive who you are because of how you look. I detected in him that sort of sadness, that sort of melancholy that goes along with that. That quality very much mirrored who and what that character was in this film."
Also, I disagree about not needing to see it. The cinematography meshes the colors of the city and Locke’s face wonderfully, and Hardy’s non-verbal performance is subtle and superb.
well with reviews like this how can I resist? im downloading it right now im excited to see it!!
Actor Chris Pratt beamed down to our sector of the universe Monday night to surprise an auditorium full of deserving kids in a special New York Daily News and Disney Studios sponsored charity screening of the superheroes-in-space flick.
And the 35-year-old actor who plays the hero Star-Lord in the Marvel movie stayed in the theater until every last one of them who wanted to take a picture with him got their selfie.
“That was really fun, this is what is all about,” said a visibly touched Pratt after the show. “I get impatient sometimes being on a promotional tour all the time, but something like this I would sit here as long as it took to take a picture with every one of those guys.”
“Tonight was really special to me.”
Pratt stayed long past the time his security detail was supposed to whisk him away to answer questions and give some words of wisdom.
